Törggelen in the Isarco Valley A paradise for foodies
Törggelen in the Isarco Valley is the most important and popular tradition during the autumn months. Every year – on the last sun-drenched days in the autumn – the Törggelen taverns in Bressanone open their doors and invite locals and vacationers to indulge in incomparable culinary delights.
Sweet, young wine, cider and homemade juices are an integral part of the Törggelen tradition, because the term comes from the grape press, which is called “Torggel”. Other typical specialties include hard rye bread and Speck (bacon), barley soup and dumplings, the meat plates with sauerkraut and roast potatoes, chestnuts, and sweet donuts. One of the highlights during Törggelen is the convivial get-together. Follow this special South Tyrolean tradition: Talk to people about food and drink and make new friends!
Walk across the Isarco Valley in the autumn
A perfect holiday in the Isarco Valley includes not only the traditional Törggelen, but also an autumn hike. The farm Saderhof is located directly on the popular Chestnut Path, thus, straight after breakfast you may start hiking in the Isarco Valley.
The Chestnut Path leads you from the Novacella Abbey near Bressanone 63 kilometres past vineyards and chestnut trees to the Bolzano Valley Basin. You may walk the entire itinerary in single stages or just choose one part. Take a rest in one of the taverns along the way and then continue your walk through the Isarco Valley with fresh energy!
